Default Broma

We played this for our 2nd Custom Map night. It's the map that's similar to Gravel Pit, with big CPs at B and C.

This was my favorite map of all the maps we tried last night. There are a TON of nooks and crannies on the map, and lots of ways to push on the final point once A and B are capped.

I don't understand a few choices the mapper made, but overall it was a lot of fun and I can see many good games on this map on our server.

Thoughts?

I don't really like that map that much.

There are too many bad design choices that plague the maneuverability of this map. Tunnels that lead to dead ends (unless you can rocket jump), ramps that block off areas leaving you trapped (on the back of A the ramp to the bottom level isn't level, causing you to get trapped between the ramp and the A building), etc. You just get stuck on so many things it is annoying.

Point B is also very hard. There is zero cover on the point, while the point itself can be hit from about 4-6 different sides.

Point C is ok except for the train tunnel entrance. The one-way door is completely suicide to go through and is cheap for the attackers to exploit. Any one-way gate that covers a key area is bad. Really point C is like the last CP on Dustbowl phase 1 stretched out.

I have to agree on the maneuverability issue. There's weird bumps and dips in the map that make you sometimes catch on walls/weird things about waist high when you're not moving straight forward (and thus watching where you're going). This makes strafing and other maneuvers a little non-intuitive. Also, I've previously mentioned the pit around B. The best ramp up is hidden visually (blends in a lot with the rest of the walls). Also once you're down there a good soldier or demo is definitely gonna tear up the team. Since the B platform is so small, it's not very conducive to teamwork, since if you're not constantly shifting your balance, while also moving and fighting, you're bound to push some of your teammates off.

I enjoyed the map when I was attacking as a Spy, all the extra hiding spots were great for me to duck into after I missed a backstab or tried to stab a few too many people.

As for defending aspect it was very difficult to setup and keep defenses on A or C since there were so many different ways to destroy anything that went up.

The map was still fun and i am sure I would enjoy it next time I played it.

I think its worth playing again.

I like the CPs themselves a lot. Although point B may be difficult to capture, ya just cant move on it and expect to capture it. Ya actually have to clear the area When my team was attacking, I came in from behind as a soldier and it worked well enough to let everyone else capture. If you come in exclusively from the front youll have problems.

Where this map seems to get bad is the transitions between points. Its excessively confusing and not very logical.

Yeah the tunnel system (like Zoopy and Santa have mentioned) is a real pain, especially with all the signs they have up pointing every which way. Still, I think once people have learned the layout that big problem goes away and it's still pretty enjoyable.

To get more nice attacking angles it's almost a necessity to cap A first (if I'm remembering the tunnels right). It's not like Gravel Pit where the two points are semi isolated (Yeah, you can travel through A to attack B from C, but since people rarely defend A anyway you don't have to push through much to do so.)
