cp_boulder - TF2 Map Discussion

I played it on another server and its quite good. The very last CP needs some work as its a tad too wide open, but the rest of it is great. Very nice looking with tons of routes into the CPs, but still very defendable.

I had a lot of fun on this map. I think it certainly takes a little more teamwork than most maps with all the routes and especially the distance to the final CP but it seems very playable. Now if I could just get the layout memorized.

Yeah after a couple times on the server, the qualities of games on this map were great. Very interesting CPs. We'll definitely be seeing this more on the server.

The map "boulder" kills the server most of the time unless there's a lot of focused and regular people playing. I checked the server at lunch and it was full, its on boulder now and there's 8 people. This happens all the time.

Also if the admins could play more custom maps when there are a lot of regulars on. We never play stag or castle to name a couple. It seems like beatnik is the only one really changes things up and he's not playing much.

Its also annoying to play cp_well, and then after another map play ctf_well.

Agreed. I've seen this kill the server a few times. Any reason why everyone leaves when this comes on?

By all means call it up during prime time, but not in general rotation.

Agreed, Boulder is a fun map but generally kills off the server. Should not be in the rotation.

Feel free to make a request while in game. I'm usually too focused on playing to think about inserting a custom map. But I have no problems taking requests and will gladly switch up for a little variety.

In my opinion the map is a confusing and poorly designed mess. It survives here because of the loyalty of the -F- regulars who are willing to put up with the frustration of learning complex non-sequitur maps if it means playing with friends. Otherwise there isn't much incentive to stick around for the "learning experience."
